NFL rookies vs veterans

Each year, during training camps, all of the NFL players, rookies and veterans, are there to show the coach, as well as fans, exactly what they can do on the field. This will always cause some inner competition between players, especially between rookies and veterans, as they are both trying to either keep or steal their starting position.

The pride of an older, more experienced player won’t allow for someone younger to come along and take their place, at least not easily. These are some of the match-ups that you can expect when looking at this years training camps.

Team Veteran Rookie
Vikings Terence Newman Trae Waynes
Cowboys Ronald Leary La’el Collins
Seahawks Doug Baldwin Tyler Lockett
Falcons Devonta Freeman Tevin Coleman
Raiders Mychal Rivera Clive Walford
Browns Phil Taylor Danny Shelton
Saints Zach Strief Andrus Peat
Browns John Greco Cameron Erving
Steelers Arthur Moats Bud Dupree
Cardinals Bobby Massie D.J. Humphries

You can see that not only are offensive positions being fought for, but also defensive ones. A lot of veterans simply won’t give up their spot on the first line unless they are injured or are ready to retire, so don’t expect any mercy during these training camps.

It is shaping up to be another great year for the rookie class of 2015, as they get taught the harsh realities of professional football, even before they play their first game in the NFL.
