San Francisco 49ers (-1) @ New Orleans Saints (+1) Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012 4:25 p.m. ET

The San Francisco 49ers will cruise to a second consecutive NFC West division title as they head into Week 12 with a 7-2-1 record and one of the best all-around teams in the league. Head coach Jim Harbaugh may be coming off an unexpected heart procedure, but the team is firing on all cylinders on both sides of the football and appear to headed towards another deep run in the playoffs as a result. Although everything appears to be on the up-and-up in San Francisco, the 49ers are in the midst of a quarterback controversy. After second-year quarterback Colin Kaepernick dominated the elite Chicago Bears’ defense last week in place of starter Alex Smith, who’s suffering from concussion symptoms sustained in the tie against the St. Louis Rams last week, San Francisco will likely start Kaepernick in Week 12 against the New Orleans Saints. The 49ers may be leaning toward starting Kaepernick, but it might not make much of the difference with San Francisco facing one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL this season. The Saints will come into Week 12 winners of five out of the last six games and apparently having turned around their season which started off so poorly. Drew Brees and company continued to fire on all cylinders and forward as the offenses the only thing in New Orleans that seems to be working the way it’s supposed to. The off-season bounty scandal created such a stir for this team that the defense has not been able to recover. As a result, the Saints’ season was thought to be a disaster with little hope to turn things around in order to get back into playoff contention in the NFC. Coming into Sunday’s showdown with the 49ers, the Saints are actually in a position to pull off slide upset with the recent three-game winning streak heading into this matchup. There’s no doubt that this game way heavily on the play of Brees under center. Although New Orleans as one of the best offenses league heading into this weekend’s matchup with San Francisco, the 49ers are and what well in football team arguably one of the best in the NFC moving forward. At this point in time, the 49ers are favored to come out on top with a -1 point spread. The spread is right on the money in my opinion as it will likely be more of the same for San Francisco.

Prediction: 49ers -1
