Houston Texans (+3) @ New England Patriots (-3) Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 8:30 p.m. ET

Houston Texans in the New England Patriots are about to go head-to-head battle that me ultimately determine the outcome of the AFC. As arguably two of the best teams in the conference, it seems to be a foregone conclusion that these two teams may meet in the playoffs and as a result the winner between the two may go on to the Super Bowl. With that being said, the matchup between these two teams on Monday night football will be crucial in terms of an edge heading into a potential playoff matchup in the coming weeks. With both teams sporting a six-game winning streak coming into this showdown on the NFL’s mainstage, one team will go home empty handed and will have perhaps been tested by their opponents more than any other team in the league this season. It would be safe to say that the Texans stand to benefit more from a victory then Patriots. Houston is not familiar with this situation in terms of being one of the best teams in the NFL and a legitimate Super Bowl title contender with the playoffs looming. Matt Schaub and company may be amongst the best in the league right now on both sides of the football, but are merely amateurs in terms of the current situation. Tom Brady and company on the other hand are about as experiences any team in the league in terms of their current situation as a been there many times before under head coach Bill Belichick. With that being said, and the fact that this game will be played at Gillette Stadium, New England may have the edge coming into this match up with experience in home-field advantage. At this point in time, New England is favored to come out on top with a -3 point spread. Although taking the Patriots to cover the spread at home is what many will do, I believe it’s Houston’s time to shine the Texans will get the win while pulling off a slight upset on the road.

Prediction: Texans +3
