New Orleans Saints (+6) @ Denver Broncos (-6) Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 8:20 p.m. ET

The New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos are two NFL franchises that experienced completely different off-season. One team brought in a future Hall of Fame quarterback and the other saw their team get ripped to shreds by the media due to the bounty scandal. After going through the bounty scandal and fiasco of trying to lockup Drew Brees to a long-term deal, the Saints thought they’d finally put everything behind them and were able to get back on the field to contend for another Super Bowl title with Brees under center. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen as Saints Coach Sean Payton was suspended for the entire 2012 season and New Orleans began the campaign with a four-game losing streak. Needless to say, the dominant Saints of old appeared to be a thing of the past with the defense in New Orleans arguably the worst in the league and the offense trying to keep up with all the points the opponents were putting on the scoreboard. As for the Broncos, four-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning fit in seamlessly into the offense and brought hope to the Mile High City once again. Even though Denver got off to a rocky start with two losses in the first three weeks, the Broncos have seemingly gotten back on track with two wins in the last three games. Something that should be pointed out for the Broncos is that they had arguably the toughest schedule in the league to start the season. In consecutive games, Denver has had to face the Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, and Houston Texans before facing the lowly Oakland Raiders. A tough road to plow having to take on arguably the two best teams in the league in consecutive weeks, but Manning got through it and now the Broncos are in first place in the AFC West and currently control their fate moving forward. After a brilliant come-from-behind victory over the division rival San Diego Chargers before heading into their bye week, Manning and company will have to take on a hungry Saints squad at Invesco Field at Mile High this Sunday. Although the Saints aren’t the team they were last season, Brees is enough to put an opponent on edge with the Broncos’ defense having to contain the perennial Pro Bowler in order to come out on top in this Week 8 showdown in the Mile High City. At this point in time, the Broncos are the obvious favorites to win at home with a -6 point spread. Even though New Orleans will put up a fight this weekend, I believe this is a spread Denver can cover.

Prediction: Broncos -6
